Energy Conservation Based on the Spirit of Mottainai

Unipac’ s Qunpu filter won a Grand Prize for Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Conservation
(Director-General’s Award, the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency) in fiscal 2012.
Traditionally, medium-performance filters were considered single-use disposable items. Qunpu, however, was praised because it (1) can be washed and reused up to four times, (2) eliminates the need to clean the prefilter, and (3) provides major power savings thanks to its minimal pressure drop.
The motivator behind Qunpu’ s development was mottainai, a Japanese word that represents the spirit of avoiding wastefulness and following wisdom passed down through the generations. I believe that taking a second look at accepted practices with the spirit of mottainai can lead to the creation of new ideas.
Unipac will continue to propose new ways to boost sustainability. We hope to achieve this through, among other things, the power savings our hybrid filters for air conditioners provide, the development of simplified anemometers, and our Ozonout automated volatile organic compound (VOC) reduction system.
